Only Believe

John 20:29, 2 Cor. 4:8-18, 1 John 5:4, Hebrews 10:35-39; 11:1-3

“We are troubled on every side and yet not distressed, we are perplexed but not in despair, persecuted but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed”

How do you overcome the problems in your business, in your health, and in the life of your teenager? These types of troubles can cause stress, pressure, and anxiety in our minds, in our relationships, and in our productivity.

So many people are troubled in this world without relief even after they have cried out in desperation. They cannot see a way to meet their need.

God is not moved by our needs. Does that sound harsh?

It would be if He had not already provided the way through our trials. He desires for us to be fully reliant upon Him and His Word. We humans are so carnal (sensory driven) that Jesus had to be sent to the earth so that we could have a talking, walking, seeing, feeling, and thinking representation of Himself.

In the Old Testament the words believe and faith occur less than a dozen times each and hundreds of times in the New Testament.

Why?

Mankind was not equipped with faith. God’s spirit had not been poured out on all flesh yet. Only kings, priests, and prophets- those anointed by God, experienced the spirit of the Lord on them. He chose specific individuals to reveal His will.

But now, through the perfection of Christ, we are able to receive His spirit within us to testify to the plans He has for us. Those who are fully persuaded and reliant upon God will declare His faithfulness. Faith speaks.

God is moved by faith.

If God were moved by needs alone miracles would be seen by everyone. Intense necessity does not move Him, begging does not move Him, and burning desire does not move Him. “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward.”

God wants to see blessings flow in our lives much, much more than any one of us can fully perceive. He desires us to know the breadth, depth, and length of His riches in glory.

Your confidence comes from your faith in His ability to fulfill His Word in your life. God is moved by your faith, “For by it the elders obtained a good report.” Do you know what “it” is?

“It” is your ability to believe before a thing or a state of being becomes seen.

Faith sees a thing happening before it actually does.

Jesus said, “…blessed are they that have not seen, yet have believed.” The saying, “Seeing is believing” is completely untrue. Seeing is not believing. Once you can see a thing it is no longer requiring your faith. If it is before your eyes it has already been manifested.

We must believe not only in God but also believe that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Whatever it is that God is establishing in your life, it will first be seen in your heart and mind before it is perceived in the physical realm.

Your ability to live the life He has already made available to you requires something from you. You will need to see what God is preparing for you, believe it in your heart, and then speak it out of your confidence.

Faith speaks the plans that God has revealed to you. It doesn’t matter if your parents, friends, boss, or doctor do not see what God has shown you. It won’t require their faith to bring it to pass, it will require yours!
